Demonstration "Wir sind mehr wert!" am 3.11. Am 3.11. um 14:45 Uhr am Fritz-Förster-Platz beginnt die Demo gegen die geplanten Kürzungen im sächsischen Haushalt. Sie steht unter dem Motto "Wir sind mehr Wert. Wer heute kürzt, zahlt morgen drauf". Dabei wird kritisiert, dass bereits in diesem Jahr im Hochschulbereich 23 Millionen Euro eingespart werden sollen. Dies soll z.B. durch das Wegfallen der für die Verbesserung der Lehre angedachten Verstärkungsmittel, weiteren Personalabbau, weniger Zuschüsse für das Studentenwerk und durch geringere Personalausgaben in der SLUB erreicht werden. Doch nicht nur an den Hochschulen soll gekürzt werden, sondern auch im Sozialbereich, Schulen und ÖPNV. Wer gerne an der Demo teilnehmen möchte, aber Vorlesungen hat, der kann beruhigt sein: Das Thema wurde am 13.10. auch im Senat behandelt und dort wurde empfohlen, dass am 3.11. ab 14:30 Uhr keine prüfungsrelevanten Themen behandelt werden sollen. Mehr Informationen zu den Kürzungen gibt es unter http://www.stura.tu-dresden.de/referat_hochschulpolitik. 2. Professorenstammtisch mit Prof. Gumhold, Prof. Vogler am 10.11. um 20 Uhr Am 10. November wird es wieder einen Professorenstammtisch geben. Diesmal haben wir zwei Professoren eingeladen: Prof. Gumhold vom Lehrstuhl "Computergraphik und Visualisierung" und Prof. Vogler vom Lehrstuhl "Grundlagen der Programmierung". Worüber ihr mit den beiden quatschen wollt ist euch frei gestellt... ob es dabei um die Inhalte ihrer Professuren, den Unialltag der Professoren, deren Sicht auf Studenten oder um etwas völlig anderes geht. Natürlich könnt Ihr auch gemütlich etwas essen oder trinken und einfach den Gesprächen lauschen. Beginn ist 20 Uhr in der Bar "Terrasse" (Bischofplatz 2, gleichnamige Haltestelle der Linie 13 oder zu Fuß erreichbar von Haltestelle Bischofsweg der Linien 7,8, 13) und das Ganze geht so lange wie ihr die beiden wach halten könnt. Wir freuen uns auf euer Kommen! 3. Wahlen 2010 Die diesjährige Wahl findet vom 23.-25.11. statt. Es werden Vertreter für den Fachschaftsrat, den Fakultätsrat, den Senat und den erweiterten Senat gewählt. Kandidaten können sich bis 2.11. (Fakultätsrat, Senat und erweiterter Senat) bzw. bis 8.11. (FSR) anmelden. Die entsprechenden Anmeldebögen liegen vor dem FSR aus oder können unter http://www.stura.tu-dresden.de/wahlen heruntergeladen werden. Da wir immer nur an einem Ort wählen dürfen, wechseln wir zwischen dem HSZ und der Fakultät INF: * Dienstag, 23.11.: Foyer, Fakultät Informatik * Mittwoch, 24.11.: Foyer, HSZ * Donnerstag, 25.11.: Foyer, Fakultät Informatik 4. Nightline Dresden - Studentisches Zuhörtelefon Die Nightline Dresden hat sich im Sommersemester 2009 mit dem Ziel gegründet, auch in Dresden ein Zuhörtelefon von Studenten für Studenten anzubieten. So besteht in den Nachtstunden die Möglichkeit, auf ein offenes Ohr zu treffen - egal ob Stress in der WG, nicht bestandene Prüfungen oder alle anderen Dinge, die den Studienalltag manchmal komplizierter gestalten, als man sich das vielleicht wünscht. Hierfür stehen geschulte Studenten verschiedenster Fachrichtungen zur Verfügung, welche jedes Gespräch vertraulich, vorurteilsfrei und anonym behandeln. Die Nennung seines Namens ist dabei nicht zwingend notwendig und es besteht auch keine Möglichkeit, die Rufnummer zu erfahren. Der Anrufer mit seinem Anliegen steht im Mittelpunkt - nicht seine Identität. Mehr Informationen gibt es unter http://www.nightline-dresden.de/. Das Nightline Dresden Team sucht außerdem weiter nach engagierten Mitstreitern, welche das bestehende Team beim Telefondienst unterstützen. Es gibt auch vielfältige Möglichkeiten, sich organisatorisch einzubringen, um den Betrieb des Zuhörtelefons weiter zu verbessern bzw. auszubauen. Bei Interesse genügt einfach eine Mail an info(a)nightline-dresden.de . 5. Lost + Found Im Zeitraum der ESE wurden zwei Brillen im FSR-Büro (INF/E017) abgegeben. Wer seine verlorene Brille sucht, wird hier hoffentlich fündig. Demonstration "Wir sind mehr wert!" ("We are worth more!") on 3 November On 3 November a demonstration against the intended cuts in the budget of the state of Saxony will start at 2:45pm at the Fritz-Förster-Platz. The demonstration takes place under the motto "We are worth more. Who cuts down today, will pay more tomorrow." The organisers criticise that starting this year, the government wants to cut 23 million Euro in and around the budget for the universities. For instance, they plan to cut money by not paying funds which were planned to improve tutoring, to have further cutbacks in staff, to shorten grants for the Studentenwerk and to lower the staff expenses in the SLUB. However, the universities are not the only group which is affected. There will be cuts in the social area, schools and public transport, too. The senate recommended to all university staff, that starting from 2:30pm, no subject matter that is relevant for exams should be thaught. Meet your prof: Prof. Gumhold, Prof. Vogler am 10.11. um 20 Uhr The next "meet your prof"-event takes place on 10th of Novembre. Two professores are invited: Prof. Gumhold from the professorship "computergraphics and visulization" and Prof. Vogler from the professorship "fundamentals of programming". The topics of the evening are up to you: Whether you want to get to know more about their professorships, about daily routines as a employee at the university, about their view on students or about something completely different. Of course you are free to make yourself comfortable with food and beverage and simply listen to the conversations. Beginning is at 8:00pm in the bar "Terrasse" (Bischofsplatz 2, tram-stop of the same name of line 13 or within walkable distance of tram-stop Bischofsweg of the lines 7,8,13) and lasts as long as you can keep the two professors entertained. We look forward to your participation! 3. Universtiy Elections 2010 The annual university elections are held from 23 to 25 November. The student representatives for the FSR, the faculty council, the senate and the extended senate will be elected. You can announce your candidacy until 2 November (faculty council, senate and extended senate) and the 8 November (FSR). The forms for the candidacy can be found on the table in front of the FSR office or at http://www.stura.tu-dresden.de/wahlen. Since we are only allowed to have one ballot box where you can cast your vote, we will alternate between the HSZ and the foyer of the INF faculty building: * Tuesday, 23 november: Foyer, INF * Wednesday, 24 november: Foyer, HSZ * Thursday, 25 november: Foyer, INF 4. Nightline Dresden - a helpline from students for students The Nightline Dresden has been founded in summer 2009 with the goal to provide a helpline service from students for students in Dresden, offering a listener for problems at night - no matter whether it's about stress in the flat sharing community, failed exams or something else. Therefore, Nightline has a number of trained students from all disciplines who will treat every conversation confidentially, impartially and anonymously. Giving your name is not necessary and there is no way to attain your phone number. The caller's problems are in the focus, not the caller's identity. For more information go to: http://www.nightline-dresden.de/ (just in German though) The Nightline Dresden Team is still searching for dedicated teammates, who will support the existing team with the hotline. If you want, you can also help in the organisation to improve the Nightline service and maybe create work on an offer for not-German-speaking students. English text below Sehr geehrte Nutzer der IFSR - Dienste, Vom 2.12.2010 bis 5.12.2010 wird es eine größere Wartung der Server des IFSR geben. Dabei kann es, trotz alles Bemühungen zu Ausfällen der IFSR - Dienste (Mailinglisten, Webdienste etc.) kommen. Falls Sie Webdienste auf unseren Servern unterhalten oder einen Nutzeraccount bei uns haben, machen Sie bitte Backups. Bei Fragen wenden Sie sich bitte an einen der Administratoren. Wer etwas mehr zu den anstehenden Wahlen und den zu wählenden Gremien hören möchte, kann auch gerne schon eine halbe Stunde eher in die E023 zur Vorstellung der Gremien (FSR, Fakultätsrat, Senat und erw. Senat) kommen. Gedenkveranstaltung für Professor Pfitzmann Die Gedenkveranstaltung für unseren kürzlich verstorbenen Dekan, Herrn Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Andreas Pfitzmann, findet am 15. November 2010 um 14 Uhr an der TU Dresden statt. Aufgrund der überaus zahlreichen Beileidsbekundungen wurde gebeten unter gedenkveranstaltung.pfitzmann(a)tu-dresden.de eure Teilnahme anzuzeigen. Weitere Informationen zum genauen Ort und Ablauf folgen in Kürze unter http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/index.php?node_id=2854. 2. Datenspuren 2010 Dieses Wochenende (16./17. Oktober) finden in der Scheune die Datenspuren statt. Unter dem Motto "Mind the Gap" geht es erneut um Datenschutz und Datensicherheit. Veranstaltet wird dieses "Symposium" nun bereits zum 7. Mal vom Chaos Computer Club Dresden (C3D2). Der Eintritt ist frei und "willkommen sind wie immer alle frei denkenden Wesen". Mehr Informationen und das Vortragsprogramm (Fahrplan) gibt es unter http://datenspuren.de. 3. Änderung der Password Policy im ZIH Am 9. August 2010 führte das ZIH eine neue Password Policy ein, die eine minimale Passwort-Länge von neun Zeichen fordert. Damit entsprechen die alten Passwörter mit einer Länge von acht Zeichen nicht mehr der neuen Policy. Bitte ändert deshalb euer Passwort unbedingt bis zum 31. Oktober 2010. Die Passwort- Änderung erfolgt über folgende Webseite: https://formulare.zih.tu- dresden.de/password/ Wenn das Passwort bis zum 1. November 2010 nicht geändert wurde, könnt ihr danach keine Dienste des ZIH (z.B. E-Mail, WLAN, VPN, HRSK) und Dienste, die über das ZIH authentifizieren (z.B. LSKOnline, OPAL), mehr nutzen, da die Benutzerkennung gesperrt werden muss. Es kann wieder entsperrt werden, indem ihr die Benutzerberatung des ZIH aufsucht. Für Fragen könnt ihr euch an die Benutzerberatung des ZIH (beratung(a)zih.tu- dresden.de) wenden. Vergesst nicht, dass euch das ZIH zu keiner Zeit dazu auffordern wird, eure Passwörter preiszugeben, weder persönlich, telefonisch oder per E-Mail. 4. Abschaltung des Maildienstes im ehemaligen FRZ Für alle, die ihre Emails noch am Mailserver der Informatik lesen: Entsprechend der Vereinbarung zur Integration des ehemaligen FRZ in das ZIH erfolgt eine schrittweise Abschaltung des Mailservers an der Informatik. Als erster Schritt wurde der Nutzerzugang am Montag 9. August 2010 10:30 Uhr, eingefroren, d.h. Passwortänderungen werden dort nicht mehr wirksam und neue Nutzer können keine Emails mehr an der Informatik lesen. Alle bisherigen Nutzer des Maildienstes an der Informatik können zunächst noch weiterhin E-Mails lesen. Das Mailprogramm sollte jedoch so umgestellt werden, dass das Senden der Emails über den Server des ZIH "mail.zih.tu-dresden.de" erfolgt. Anleitungen dazu findet ihr unter http://tu- dresden.de/die_tu_dresden/zentrale_einrichtungen/zih/dienste/datennetz_dienste/e_mail/mail_config Habt ihr eine Weiterleitung an eine Adresse von externen Anbietern oder anderen Instituten (außer dem ZIH), so vergesst nicht diese Weiterleitung unbedingt auch in Ihrer Email-Konfiguration am ZIH (https://mail.zih.tu- dresden.de) einzurichten. Die komplette Abschaltung des Maildienstes an der Informatik soll bis zum Jahresende vollzogen worden sein. Für Fragen könnt ihr euch an die Benutzerberatung des ZIH (beratung(a)zih.tu-dresden.de) wenden. 5. neues Prüfungsamt für ausländische Studenten Am 1. Oktober hat das SCIS (Service Center for International Students) eröffnet. Es wird die Aufgaben des Prüfungsamts für die Studiengänge Computational Logic, Computational Engineering / Distributed Systems Engineering und alle Studenten (Informatik / Medieninformatik) mit Abschluss im Ausland übernehmen. Mehr Informationen dazu findet ihr unter: http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/index.php?node_id=2723&ln=de 6. Juniorprofessur "Software Engineering Ubiquitärer Systeme" neu besetzt Seit dem 1. Oktober wird die Juniorprofessur "Software Engineering Ubiquitärer Systeme" von Dr. Thomas Schlegel geleitet. Bisher war er an der Universität Stuttgart am Institut für Visualisierung und Interaktive Systeme tätig. Wir heißen ihn sehr herzlich in Dresden willkommen und wünschen ihm alles Gute und viel Erfolg. 7. Probleme, Widersprüche, Wünsche bei SächsHG Die sächsische Regierung hat beschlossen, das Sächsische Hochschulgesetz erneut zu novellieren. Das ist für uns die Gelegenheit auf Probleme und Widersprüche im aktuellen Hochschulgesetz hinzuweisen oder Wünsche an das neue einzubringen. Wenn ihre also etwas habt, dann zögert nicht es uns mitzuteilen. Wir sammeln es und leiten es an das Referat Hochschulpolitik im Studentenrat weiter. Andreas Pfitzmann, takes place on 15 November at 2pm. Because of the numerous expressions of condolences you are asked to announce your attendance to gedenkveranstaltung.pfitzmann(a)tu-dresden.de. Datenspuren 2010 This weekend (16./17.) the "Datenspuren" (data tracks) take place in the Scheune. The motto is "Mind the Gap" and the event will be all about data safety and data security. It is being organized for the 7th time by the local Chaos Computer Club. The entry is free and everybody with an open mind is more than welcome. Read more on http://datenspuren.de. 3. Change of the ZIH password policy From 9 August 2010 on, the password policy has been changed for security reasons. The length of your password has then to be at least 9 characters. Therefore it is mandatory that you change your ZIH password between 9 August and 31 October 2010 as the old passwords had a minimum length of 8 characters. Please change it using this website: https://formulare.zih.tu- dresden.de/password/ If your password is unchanged after 31 October you will not be able to use any service that authenticates against the ZIH login database (Wireless, e-mail, VPN...) because your ZIH login will be blocked. You can only enable your ZIH login again if you visit the ZIH user help desk. If you have any questions please contact: beratung(a)zih.tu-dresden.de. Besides of this, please keep in mind that nobody at ZIH will ever ask you to tell your password, neither face-to-face, nor by telephone or e-mail. 4. Shutdown of the mail service of the former FRZ The email-service at Dept. of Computer Science will be switched off in the near future. As a first step, the list of users, that have access to the service, has been frozen on August 9th 2010. Since then, password changes have had no effect. For sending emails, please switch to the mail.zih.tu-dresden.de server. You can find hints at http://tu- dresden.de/die_tu_dresden/zentrale_einrichtungen/zih/dienste/datennetz_dienste/e_mail/mail_config If you already forward your email from here to an external address other than s7415009(a)mail.zih.tu-dresden.de then please make sure you are forwarding your ZIH email address too. Use this page: https://mail.zih.tu-dresden.de. The complete shutdown should be finished by the end of the year. If you have any questions please contact: beratung(a)zih.tu-dresden.de. 5. Service Center for International Students opened On 1 October the SCIS (Service Center for International Students) opened. It will carry out the duties of the examination office for the study courses Computational Logic, Computational Engineering / Distributed Systems Engineering and all foreign exchange students (Computer Science / Media Computer Science). Junior Professorship "Software Engineering Ubiquitious Systems" now occupied Since 1 October the Junior Professorship "Software Engineering Ubiquitious Systems" is being led by Dr. Thomas Schlegel.
